Evaluating the impact of Oxfam’s top global climate change campaign
Oxfam GB’s global climate change campaign seeks to achieve a fair and safe political agreement to limit greenhouse gas emissions and prevent life-threatening climate change. The campaign was founded by a number of prominent environmental organizations that operate through the TckTckTck campaign. They include Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, and the Climate Action Network. In its first two years, the campaign operated on budget of approximately $14.8 million CDN.
Given the global scale, high visibility, and large budget of this campaign, Oxfam GB wanted to assess the campaign’s impact and identify new ways to improve its performance. Together with our partners Leitmotiv and the SCRG, we evaluated the impact of Oxfam GB’s global climate change campaign. We issued a 60-page report based on a massive evaluation process. Oxfam’s senior management praised our team for helping them raise the bar in the complex field of advocacy evaluation.
Some of our key support included:
- Leading the research process and project
- Designing, managing, and performing the evaluation
- Operating as lead author of the evaluation report
- Undertaking research that included a desk review, interviews with 57 informants, two online surveys, media time-series analysis, online data collection, analytics, and more
