Workshop on the psychology of websites & social media
It’s not only your website’s information architecture that you need to worry about. You also need to think about your website’s psychological architecture.

The big secret behind successful websites is rarely a design feature that you can emulate, or a marketing campaign that you can copy. Their “secret sauce” is actually something conceptual, impossible to directly observe.
If you try to build websites or campaigns without understanding what motivates your uses and how they think, feel, and perceive – there is a good chance you’ll be wasting your time! However, if you understand the psychological architectures that lie behind successful online products and campaigns, you’ll be able to apply their winning principles to your own work.
This will help you to build better and more effective websites, social media campaigns, mobile apps, and other interactive technologies.

About this workshop
In this engaging session, we’ll introduce you to the psychology of online design. We will show you a number of simple principles that you can use to understand website psychology and social media success.
By the end of the session, you’ll be better equipped to understand why some online ventures are successful, and why others miss the mark — enabling you to join the winners circle. You’ll also understand why some community managers can ignite passions and defuse conflict, while others fail to inspire.
This course is born as result of a 3-year research project on the psychology of online engagement. It’s grounded in science. But don’t worry about that – we present the topic in a simple and fun format. An interactive experience, the workshop will include not only a structured presentation but also open discussions and engaging group tasks.
Our first presentation on this topic packed the largest auditorium at PodCamp 2011! And received over 10,000 downloads in its first month on SlideShare.
