Emotional Design Psychology & Neuroscience

Emotional Design Psychology & Neuroscience [EDP]

This class will deepen your understanding of user perception, cognition, emotion and behavior. You’ll take a deep dive into human emotions and learn how to build emotion-targeted digital strategy for various page types, processes and marketing goals.

You’ll deepen your hands-on skills with many rounds of emotionally targeted wireframing and mini-design sprints.

Thanks to  Dr. Chandross, we developed several learning games and exercises to help our students acquire skills and judgment faster than traditional teaching methods. Best of all, they’re extremely fun.

Science-inspired improv

Not many people realize it, but science-inspired design is fun and creative. We use improv exercises to help our students loosen up and translate scientific concepts into all sorts of creative ideas.

Live psychometric polling

To develop more in-depth insight, we use anonymous psychometric polls, discussions about behavioral impacts, and more. Rather than telling you how people are, we’ll show you.

Bigger picture learning

People learn best when they have a mental model of the concept. Most of our training presents complex ideas as simple concepts before we dive into the details. We find this boosts comprehension and retention.

Design challenges

To reinforce your learning, you’ll join a series of psychology-inspired design challenges. Each challenge pushes you to use behavioral principles in different ways. It’s great learning, fun, and helps internalize the lessons.

We’ve developed software that predicts the psychological strategies needed to nudge users and flag potential backfires. You’ll use our software to get behavioral insights into your target audiences and simulate a formal lit review.

Step-by-step design process

We provide a full behavioral design workbook, along with step-by-step templates and instructions. After completing the process, you’ll have a behavioral science framework you can use on any future project.
